About Us

Kingsport Grocery Company was founded with a very simple principle: Offer your community good food, with fair prices, and great service and success will follow.

At the KGC, the environment thrives around our saying, "Eat Well. Drink Well. Be Well."  Upon first entering the restaurant, you will soon begin to understand the experience.

ABOUT OUR BUILDING - This historic building has been known as the Kingsport Grocery Company since its opening in 1916. Built as the first grocery supply warehouse in Kingsport, it also became an early distributor for Gray Seal Paints, thus the name of our 2nd floor tavern & game room - "The Gray Seal". When we acquired the building, we wanted it to be like it was designed to be so we took it back to its rustic core.

HISTORY STICKS AROUND - As with many old buildings, spooky sounds and happenings sometimes occur. This building is no different. As a matter of fact, its very interesting at times. If this sort of thing arouses your interests, ask a manager or one of the staff about "JD"...

Kingsport Grocery Company is another initiative by Adapt Core, Inc., founded by Doug Beatty, Jeff Lane, and Kanishka Biddanda, whose other projects include the Kingsport Bone Fire Smokehouse, The Bus Pit, The State Theater, Racks by the Tracks, and the Thursday night Twilight Alive downtown concert series.

Located at 453 E. Main Street, in booming Downtown Kingsport, the restaurant, bar, and patio seating are open 6 days a week, from 4pm - 10pm or later.
