Mister McGoo's is a family owned and operated restaurant in Petaluma that has been serving Italian and American food since 1965. Their loyal patrons come back again and again as they know that they will never go home hungry because of the large portions. Most of the entrees on their menu come with both soup and salad accompanied by all of the piping hot garlic bread you can eat.
Dinner is served Wednesday through Sunday starting at 5pm and a fantastic Sunday buffet champagne brunch featuring over 35 items is served every Sunday from 10am to 1pm. Mister McGoo's has a full service bar and a private banquet room that can accomodate up to 80 people.
Bob and Bobbi McGaughey opened Mister McGoo's in 1965 and it is currently the longest running family owned and operated restaurant and bar in Petaluma. In 2000, their son Tony continued the family tradition by taking over as owner. On any given night at Mister McGoo's you will see Tony waiting on tables, bartending, cooking or clearing off tables. The restaurant business was in Tony's blood at an early age since he began working at Mister McGoo's as a bus boy at age 6. Tony has three children (Teresa, Jamie and Anthony) with his wife Amy and it will be just a matter of time before they continue the family tradition and start clearing off tables in the dining room.
Tony has two brothers who also grew up working at the restaurant and still lend a helping hand. Rob McGaughey helps out as a bartender and Tim McGaughey who is a CPA assists Tony with the accounting records for the restaurant.
Mister McGoo's was named after a nickname that Bob's friends gave him growing up which was a spin on his last name which is McGaughey. Bob and Bobbi are now semi-retired although you will see them on occasion helping out or visiting with the customers that became friends over the 35 years that they owned the restaurant.
